You may also experience loss and trauma as a result of the dissolution of a long-held dream, the sudden absence of something you once took for granted, or any event that shatters your sense of safety, belonging, or self-worth. While each individual’s experience is unique, the common thread is the upheaval these events can bring.

Such experiences can leave you feeling disconnected—not merely from others, but from yourself. The pain may be so great that it clouds your ability to see the person you once were or to imagine who you might become. At such times, the idea of wholeness might seem distant or even unattainable.
